Vol. 293 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork School.

25.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the chaotic conditions obtaining in the Christian Brothers' secondary school, Youghal, County Cork, he will sanction as a matter of extreme urgency the building of the proposed new school or, alternatively, take immediate steps to provide additional temporary accommodation to alleviate overcrowding.

I have sanctioned the provision of a new secondary school for the Christian Brothers at Youghal, County Cork. Planning for the new building is already under way and every effort will be made to complete the planning process as quickly as possible so that construction work may be commenced. At this stage, it is of course, not possible to state when the new school will be ready for occupation. The question of providing additional temporary accommodation pending the erection of the new building is being taken up with the manager.
