Vol. 293 No. 11

Written Answers. - Prefabricated Classrooms.

45.

asked the Minister for Education if it is his intention to phase out the supply of prefabricated classrooms to vocational education committees; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Temporary prefabricated classrooms are now provided to vocational education committees only in exceptional circumstances, for example, where necessary at short notice to cater for increased enrolments. A considerable amount of replacement of temporary prefabricated building takes place annually as part of an on-going programme for the improvement of vocational school accommodation. It would not be realistic, however, to phase out prefabricated building completely.
