Vol. 300 No. 1

Business of Dáil.

It will be necessary for those whom I have nominated to be members of the Government to proceed to Arus an Uachtaráin to receive their seals of office. Until that has happened they are not legally appointed members. Since the hour is late I suggest that we adjourn and sit again tomorrow. There is some business to be transacted, business that was left over by the outgoing Government and which it is necessary for the House to pass motions on. I propose that we adjourn until 3 p.m. tomorrow, because the arrangements that were come to during the life of the last Dáil terminated with that Dáil. Therefore, we go back to the ordinary sitting time of 3 o'clock on Wednesday.

Would it be in order to inquire from the Taoiseach in regard to tomorrow's business whether, in addition to the matters he has mentioned, he intends to introduce Supplementary Estimates for such matters as the removal of the road tax and the £1,000 payment for first time house purchasers, uncertainty in relation to which is causing a serious problem in the housing industry?

If a Supplementary Estimate is necessary, and it may well be, the Government will make such a decision to-night and will introduce the Supplementary Estimate tomorrow. A statement will be made in respect of it which will remove any doubts that might prevail.
