Vol. 303 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Curragh Military Prison.

39.

asked the Minister for Justice the total number of persons transferred to the Curragh Military Prison in each year since 1972 to date under section 2 (3) and section 2 (5) of the Prisons Act, 1972; and the total number of persons at present in custody in the Curragh Military Prison.

While the question asks only the number of transfers to the Curragh, section 2 (5) of the Act which is mentioned refers to transfers from the Curragh. The number of persons transferred to and from the Curragh in each of the years referred to is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.

The number of persons at present in military custody in the Curragh pursuant to section 2 (3) of the Prisons Act, 1972 is 25.
