Vol. 304 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Westport Convent School.

26.

asked the Minister for Education his plans for the extension of the Sacred Heart Convent, Westport, County Mayo; and the developments to date.

I have approved the provision of an extension at the Sacred Heart Convent Secondary School, Westport. Following a recent meeting on planning in my Department, the submission of plans by the school manager is awaited. Every effort will be made to have the remaining planning processes completed as expeditiously as possible.

With respect to the Minister's middle name, could I ask him to show a little more enthusiasm in view of the fact that the projections for enrolments are of a much increased nature in years to come and in view of the fact that the present sheds have been converted into makeshift classrooms?

I am glad that the urge to increase the population in west Mayo is so great, and I assure the Deputy that we will have places for the children when they come along.

The remaining questions will appear on tomorrow's Order Paper.
