Vol. 306 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork National School.

244.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to appoint a third teacher at Bartlemy national school, County Cork.

245.

asked the Minister for Education if he will provide, as a matter of urgency, an additional schoolroom at Bartlemy national school, County Cork, as the present position constitutes gross overcrowding.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 244 and 245 together.

While the number of pupils on rolls at this school warrants the appointment of an additional teacher there is at present no accommodation there for such teacher. My Department are at present investigating the suitability of a local hall which is being proposed as temporary school accommodation. If this matter is satisfactorily resolved the appointment of the additional teacher will be authorised.

Approval has been given for the provision of additional accommodation at the school and arrangements are proceeding for the building of the extension.
