Information is not available as to the number of non-national doctors employed as hospital consultants or general practitioners in this country, but to the extent that non-nationals are employed it is mainly in hospital non-Consultant posts.
A survey of 1,313 non-consultant posts carried out on 30 September 1977 showed that 195 of these posts were occupied by 147 non-national doctors who obtained their primary qualifications outside this country and 48 non-national doctors who obtained their primary qualifications in this country. The number employed in each health board area is as follows:
