Vol. 307 No. 14

Written Answers . - Swimming Instruction .

107.

asked the Minister for Education the number of national schools at which swimming instruction is given; if he will express this figure as a percentage of all national schools; and if, in view of the desirability of acquiring this competence, particularly in a maritime nation such as ours, he will take steps to have swimming instruction extended to all national schools.

: I do not have information as to the number of national schools at which swimming instruction is given.

The managerial authorities of national schools are recommended to arrange that pupils, as part of the normal curriculum, receive instruction in swimming and life-saving where facilities are available locally.
