Vol. 308 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

497.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that many residents in Smiths Road, Charleville, County Cork, have applied for inclusion in the new proposed sewerage scheme at Charleville; and the present position in the matter.

I understand that the local authority are having the feasibility of extending the scheme to cater for this area examined.

498.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the group water scheme proposals for Gleneely/Culdaff district, County Donegal; and, in view of the extreme need for piped water in the area, if he will have the matter dealt with as a matter of urgency.

The source originally proposed for the Gleneely (Moville) group water scheme has been considered unsuitable by the group. Donegal County Council have asked the group to locate an alternative source.

499.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the Drumminroe West group water scheme, County Mayo, will be approved by him.

Tests carried out on the proposed source to serve the Drumminroe West Group Water Scheme have indicated that the quality of water is unacceptable from a public health point of view. No further progress on the scheme can be made until an alternative satisfactory source is located.

500.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he proposes to sanction the application of the Wicklow County Council for a loan to extend the Hollywood water supply.

The question of sanctioning a loan to finance the construction of this scheme will not arise until the scheme has been fully planned and approved.

501.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of sewerage schemes, planned or in progress, in east Mayo, their location; and the cost and number of people likely to be serviced in each case.

502.
