asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that Greaghnafenna national school, Arigna, County Roscommon, has been closed as a result of the withdrawal of INTO staff members due to the school being in substandard repair; the steps, if any, it is intended to take to bring the school up to standard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand the school was closed by the board of management from 6 to 16 February to have certain repairs and maintenance works carried out and to have supplementary heating provided.
My Department have asked the Office of Public Works to report on conditions generally at the school and in regard to any improvement works considered necessary to bring the school up to a satisfactory standard.
