Vol. 312 No. 9

Written Answers. - Equal Pay.

169.

andMr. O'Toole asked the Minister for Labour, in relation to equal pay for work of equal value, the action his Department, the Labour Court or the Employment Equality Agency propose to take on a case (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record of receipt of a claim for equal pay in my Department, the Labour Court or the Employment Equality Agency in respect of the person in question.

Following inquiries, a copy of a letter dated 22 February 1979 addressed to the equality officer of the Labour Court was received by my Department from the Dáil Office on 12 March 1979. I have arranged to have the letter referred to the Equality Officer for consideration. Pending the Equality Officer's inquiries it would not be appropriate for me to make a statement on the matter.
