Mr. P. Barry

asked the Taoiseach in respect of all boards and/or State companies under the control of his Department: (i) the names of board members, (ii) when they were appointed and (iii) the number of years they are appointed for.

The Taoiseach

Two such bodies operate under the aegis of my Department, namely, An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the Law Reform Commission.

The following are the members of An Chomhairle Ealaíon. They were appointed on 23 December 1978 for a period of five years:

There is only one board or State company under the control of my Department—the National Board for Science and Technology. The information requested by the Deputy is as follows: (i) T.P. Hardiman (Chairman), Professor C. Dillon, Dr. D. Donnelly, Dr. R. McCarrick, Mr. B. McDonald Mr. R. McLoughlin, Mr. M. Manahan, Professor F. J. Smith, Professor S.E. Timoney, Professor W.A. Watts; (ii) all of the board members were appointed on 5 April 1978; (iii) all of the board members were appointed for a period not exceeding four years.
