asked the Minister for Agriculture the latest date and location on which the herbicide 245-T was used on any of his Department's properties; the nature of protective clothing issued to workers; the maximum permitted periods of exposure to this substance; and the quantity used in the past year.

The latest date on which a herbicide containing 245-T was used on one of my Department's properties was July 1979 and the location was Raphoe, County Donegal. Workers on the Department's farms are supplied with protective clothing consisting of rain wear and face masks.

No maximum permitted period of exposure to this substance is laid down. It is applied in accordance with good agricultural practice and the instructions of the manufacturers.

The total quantity of herbicide containing 245-T used on the farm in question during the past year was approximately five litres.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the brand names of herbicides and pesticides generally in use or on sale for use in agriculture and horticulture where the active ingredient includes 245-T sprays.

The information requested is as follows: Trioxone 50, DBN 2, 4, 5-T, Phortox, Brushkiller, Silvapron T, U-46 Bushkiller, Spontox, Kilnet, Brushwood Killer, SBK.
