Vol. 322 No. 1

Written Answers. - Kerry Sewerage Schemes.

330.

asked the Minister for the Environment the date his Department received proposals from Kerry County Council to extend the sewerage scheme to Tonbwee, Castleisland; and the present position regarding the proposal.

A preliminary report for stage 2 of the Castleisland sewerage scheme, which includes proposals to service the Tonbwee area, was received in my Department on 5 May 1980 and is at present being examined.

331.

asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will be issued to Kerry County Council to invite tenders for the sewerage scheme at Castlemaine, County Kerry.

The local authority's proposals for this scheme must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for the overall water and sewerage programme, the number of schemes in progress or getting to construction at the present time and the need to conserve capital for schemes of the highest priority. I cannot at present say when I will be in a position to convey a decision on the local authority's preliminary proposals for this scheme.
