Could the Minister give any information about the disbursement of the Border areas' money?
In 1981 money was provided under the special Border area programme fund administered under a special subhead in the Department of Finance Vote. The programme was financed jointly by Ireland and the European Commission. The money is paid from the fund to each Department and agency from the Department of Finance fund in accordance with each one's responsibility under the programme. In this respect Bord Fáilte receive money for tourism projects in Border counties. The 1981 allocation to Bord Fáilte under the special Border area programme fund is broken down as follows: promotion £100,000; accommodation £575,000; amenities, £250,000, to make a total in all of £925,000
Has the Minister anything in his script about money for the development of craft industries under that heading?
I have not got that information available. The question relates merely to moneys allocated to Bord Fáilte in block and the special Border area programme was not really allocated as part of that. It was allocated through a subhead of the Department of Finance. I have merely a breakdown of the total moneys.
Has the £575,000 the Minister mentioned actually been disbursed or just allocated?
The information available to me is that it has been allocated to Bord Fáilte for disbursal. I am not in a position to say whether the moneys have been disbursed as yet.
Would the Minister undertake to let me know whether the moneys have been allocated and to whom?
