I have been informed by Bord na Móna that stocks of machine turf at Glenties works are fully committed under contracts to supplying the requirements of institutions, mainly hospitals, and no supplies in excess of commitments are available for public sales. I understand from the board that, in the area in question, production fell far short of target due to the bad weather during the 1981 harvesting season. Bord na Móna have indicated that it is open to turf distributers in the Glenties area to obtain supplies from other works.
