asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the building of an extension to Eglantine girls national school, Douglas Road, Cork.

At present my Department are examining the results of a comprehensive survey carried out of the Douglas area of Cork in order to determine the long term accommodation requirements of national schooling in the area. I expect to be in a position to convey a decision regarding the extension to Eglantine girls' national school to the rev. chairman at an early date.

asked the Minister for Education if he will sanction immediately the second stage of the building of Confey national school, Leixlip, County Kildare.

The provision of a second school at Confey, Leixlip, County Kildare, has been approved in principle. Housing developments, population trends and other relevant factors are kept under constant review and the invitation of tenders for the second school at Confey will be authorised at such a time as will ensure that the school will be available when required.

Revised sketch-plans for the proposed new national school at Inagh, County Clare, have been approved and a grant towards the cost has been sanctioned. The further arrangements are now a matter for the school authorities' architect working in consultation with the Office of Public Works.
