I approved the contract documents for this scheme in June 1981, subject to certain technical amendments. Dublin County Council submitted revised contract documents to my Department for the civil works and mechanical plant on 15 January 1982 and for the pumping plant on 2 March 1982. These documents are under technical examination in my Department and a decision thereon will issue to the county council shortly.
The council cannot seek tenders for the new treatment works until they have legally acquired permanent access to the site of the treatment works. I understand that the council are currently negotiating the acquisition of the access strip involved.
The provision of the necessary finance will be considered by me when the council have completed the necessary legal and tendering formalities.
