Vol. 334 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

595.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in issuing a £4,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and when the grant sanction will issue.

There has been no undue delay in my Department in dealing with this case. The file has been referred to the inspector for investigation and report with a view to the allocation of a grant, if in order.

596.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

It has only recently been established that a previous grant was paid by Roinn na Gaeltachta for this house.

Payment of a further grant cannot be made unless and until it is confirmed by the Department's inspector that the additional bedroom was necessary to relieve overcrowding and that the works were satisfactorily completed at 30 June 1981. It will also be necessary for the applicant to establish that, on or before 21 January 1980, he had entered into a contract for the works or had purchased materials. A further inspection will be arranged when the applicant supplies evidence of compliance with the latter requirement.

597.

asked the Minister for the Environment why a grant which was approved for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin has not yet been paid; and if the file was mislaid twice by his Department as this was the reason the applicant received for non-payment of the grant.

The original file in this case was, unfortunately, mislaid. A new file has, however, been reconstructed and a final inspection carried out. The Department wrote to the applicant on 8 April 1982, asking for information regarding compliance with the statutory requirements of the grants scheme. The application will be further considered on receipt of a reply.

598.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and when it will be paid.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), it was necessary for payment of a house improvement grant that the work be satisfactorily completed and a claim for payment received in the Department on or before 30 June 1981. As this statutory requirement was not complied with in this case, a grant cannot be paid.

599.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a £1,000 new house grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and when it will be paid.

This application was rejected because the floor area of the house exceeds the maximum area allowable for grant purposes, that is, 1,346 sq.ft.

600.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a £4,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Payment of the grant in this case cannot be considered until the applicant completes and returns to my Department the application form, which was returned to him on 20 November 1981.

601.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a reconstruction grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application from the person named for a house improvement grant.

602.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

This grant will be paid if and when an inspection establishes that the relevant works have been completed. The inspection will be arranged when the applicant notifies my Department that the works have been completed.

603.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), it was necessary for payment of a house improvement grant that the work be satisfactorily completed and a claim for payment received in the Department on or before 30 June 1981. As this statutory requirement was not complied with in this case, a grant cannot be paid.

604.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house inspection for a £1,000 new house grant will be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

The application submitted was incomplete and the applicant was asked for the additional information required. Following the receipt of this information on 26 April 1982 the file has been referred to the inspector, who will carry out an inspection as soon as possible.

605.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; if the work has been inspected yet; and when notification was received that the house was ready for inspection.

The grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with.

The file has been referred for first inspection with a view to the approval and payment of a grant, if in order.

No notification has been received in the Department that the house was ready for inspection.

606.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied, and that the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with.
