Vol. 334 No. 4

Written Answers. - Glen-of-Imaal Army Wardens Appointment.

879.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will indicate his Department's proposals for the appointment of Army wardens at the Glen-of-Imaal, County Wicklow.

A special staff of Military Police personnel has recently been approved for the purpose of providing a warden service for the training area in the Glen of Imaal. The service will include mobile patrols, warning of dangers and other measures necessary to ensure the safety of members of the public using the area. As an interim measure pending the filling of the appointments in the warden service, mobile patrols of Military Police are operating on a daily basis in the area.

The overall administration of effective safety measures in the area is the responsibility of the camp commandant (lieutenant-colonel), Coolmoney Camp assisted by a full-time safety officer of the rank of captain.
