asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange to have a telephone service provided for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who needs a telephone as a matter of urgency because of his business.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed until about the end of the year.

The provision of a telephone kiosk to serve Castledaly is not considered warranted at present and it is not proposed therefore to provide one there.

A survey is being carried out to ascertain when this application, which was received on 10 May 1982, can be met. The applicant will be advised when the survey has been completed.

(Donegal South-West) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the location of the telephone kiosks recently erected in south west Donegal; and the approximate date on which kiosks which are not operational will be made operational.

Service was provided to telephone kiosks at the following locations in south west Donegal during the first quarter of 1982: Coguish; Dore; and Lettercaugh.

A kiosk was erected at Carrickboyle in April 1982 and it is expected that service will be provided in June 1982.

It is expected that service will be provided for this applicant, who applied in 1977, in about a year.

A deposit of £25 against call charges was sought from the person named because it was considered that the rate of call user in his case is likely to be higher than normal.

I am aware of the application. It has not been possible to meet it so far because of the large volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the Dublin area. Service will be provided immediately after the necessary cabling work has been carried out. Regrettably it is unlikely that this work can be completed before the end of this year.
