874.

andMr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the urgent need to provide additional classroom accommodation and a metalwork room at St. Columba's College, Stranorlar, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

875.

andMr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education the reason he rejected an application by Donegal vocational committee for a 350 pupil school at Stranorlar; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 874 and 875 together.

My Department have now approved the provision of a metalwork room at St. Columba's College, Stranorlar.

When the major scheme of extension presently under construction at St. Columba's College and the additional accommodation bringing the number of places to 325 presently being planned for the vocational school have been completed, my Department are satisfied, having regard to present demographic trends, that sufficient accommodation will be available in both schools to meet the needs of the area.
