887.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a reliable telephone service will be provided to a person (details supplied) who has had only an intermittent service for the past three months.

The fault, which is in the underground cable, will be repaired within the next few days. Because of the number of such faults, which require attention by specially trained staff, I regret that there has been delay in repairing them.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs his plans for the further engineering work in the Meath Hill area of County Meath, including the erection of a new pole route, to enable additional applications for telephones to be met; the number of applications waiting for attention there; and how soon terms are likely to be quoted to the applicants after the completion of the engineering works.

There are four waiting applications for telephone service bearing Meath Hill addresses.

Cabling has been carried out in the area.

Terms will be quoted over the next year or so as it becomes possible to undertake the necessary additional linework.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when he proposes to provide the additional cabling to enable further telephones to be provided at Kiltale, Dunsany, County Meath; the number of applicants waiting for service there; if the cabling will involve the breaking of the road surface; and when he expects it to be completed.

There are 13 waiting applications for telephone service bearing Kiltale, Dunsany addresses. Cabling to enable these applications to be met will be carried out over the next year or so. It is not expected that it will be necessary to break the road surface.
