Vol. 336 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Dublin Garda Strength.

987.

asked the Minister for Justice when the complement of gardaí stationed in the following areas will be increased: (a) Ballyfermot, (b) Lucan and (c) Blanchardstown, County Dublin.

988.

asked the Minister for Justice when additional gardaí will be allocated to serve in the Clondalkin area of County Dublin.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 987 and 988 together.

The detailed deployment of Garda manpower is a matter for the Garda authorities. They have informed me that since 7 May 1982 two additional sergeants were assigned to Blanchardstown station, three gardaí to Ballyfermot station and two gardaí to Clondalkin station. An extra garda was also assigned to Lucan station but, due to the transfer of a member from that station, there has been no net increase in the strength there.

The strength of the four stations in question will be further reviewed according as the additional manpower at present in training and being recruited becomes available for assignment to the various centres.
