Vol. 339 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 2, 3, 11 (resumed), 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17.

I want to raise on the Adjournment the question of the dispute between the district court clerks and the Department of Justice.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

Following yesterday's question, has the Taoiseach made any approaches to the Whips as to the possibility of having a statement on the recent resignation of two senior garda officers and the matters out of which that arose, namely, telephone tapping and bugging?

As the Chair understands it, the Taoiseach said in reply to Deputy De Rossa that the Government Whips would be quite prepared to meet the other Whips and discuss the possibility of proceeding as Deputy Mac Giolla suggested.

That is precisely what I am asking. Has he met the Whips?

I imagine the other Whips will approach the Government Whips and arrange it between themselves.
