Vol. 339 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nuclear Missiles.

35.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of the public concern about the possibility of nuclear missiles being located in Northern Ireland; and the representations he has made, or intends to make, to the British Government on this matter.

36.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of reports that major construction work at a British Army base in Forkhill, County Armagh, may be to enable Cruise missiles to be located there; and the representations he has made, or intends to make, to the British Government on this matter.

37.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of a recent report that nuclear missiles may be sited at Forkhill, County Armagh; if he has satisfied himself that there are no plans to site nuclear missiles there at present or in the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 35, 36 and 37 together.

I have seen the press reports referred to by Deputies Mac Giolla and O'Hanlon. I have received assurances from the British authorities that there are no plans for siting Cruise missiles or any other nuclear missiles in Northern Ireland.
