Vol. 340 No. 4

Written Answers. - Political Party Secretarial Assistants.

347.

asked the Minister for Finance when he proposes to pay the 5 per cent increase awarded to clerical officers in the civil service to the secretarial assistants attached to the political parties; and when the arrears which are due from 1 September 1980, will be paid to these assistants.

The secretarial assistants to the political parties have been paid the 5 per cent increase due under the third phase of the amended agreement on pay in the public service. A separate pay award has been granted involving a revision of the maximum of the clerical officer pay scale. My Department have now received sanction from the Department of the Public Service to apply this award to the secretarial assistants and payment, including the arrears due, will be made at the first available opportunity, which is likely to be 4 March 1983.
