Vol. 342 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coastal Protection.

16.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make moneys available to provide for coastal protection at Lisfannon and Buncrana, County Donegal, in view of the severe coastal erosion which took place there recently.

Processing of the proposal by Donegal County Council for a coast protection scheme at Lisfannon and Buncrana has not yet reached the stage of allocating moneys. The Commissioners of Public Works are awaiting the making and implementation of a Prohibitory Order under the Foreshore Act, 1933, to prevent the removal of beach material in the area. The beach removals have contributed significantly to the problem of erosion.
