Vol. 342 No. 6

Written Answers. - Adrigole (Cork) Group Water Scheme.

591.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction the commencement of work on Adrigole group water scheme, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The design for the Adrigole group water supply scheme has been approved by my Department and by Cork County Council. My Department's inspector for the area met the group on 10 May 1983 and has arranged a further meeting with the group and the county council engineer for the area. The group will be advised to seek tenders for the scheme.

The headworks for the group scheme will be constructed by the county council as the Adrigole regional water supply scheme. I approved the working drawings for the regional scheme on 5 May 1983 and the council have been asked to arrange for early commencement of work on this direct labour project.

I have designated the regional scheme for an 80 per cent grant under the western package of aid from the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (FEOGA). This will reduce the local authority's share of the cost from 40 per cent under the normal loan and subsidy arrangement to 20 per cent.
