Vol. 343 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin School Heating System.

638.

asked the Minister for Education if she will make a decision regarding the request of the management of St. Gabriel's national school, Cowper Street, Dublin 7, for an adequate and proper heating system; if steps will be taken to install the system during the summer months; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

640.

asked the Minister for Education the steps she proposes to take to have a proper heating system installed, as a matter of urgency, in St. Gabriel's boys' national school, Dublin 7, having regard to the very serious problems experienced by the pupils and staff during the past winter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 638 and 640 together. My Department sanctioned a grant in October 1982 towards the cost of improvements to the heating systems in St. Gabriel's Boys' School and St. Gabriel's Girls' School, Cowper Street, Dublin 7. Subsequently following representations from the chairman of the boards of management, the Commissioners of Public Works were asked to re-examine the heating system in both schools. When a report and recommendation have been received from the commissioners, a decision will be conveyed to the chairman without delay.
