Dáil Éireann debate -
Thursday, 2 Feb 1984

Vol. 347 No. 8

Personal Explanation by Member.

I am grateful for this opportunity to make a statement. It has been brought to my notice that unfounded allegations were made against me yesterday in the House arising from a debate which took place as a result of a question placed on yesterday's Order Paper by Deputy Molony. Deputy Molloy inferred that a question placed by Deputy Molony was on my behalf and that I was making allegations against my own constituents. I should like to put it on the record of the House that I was not aware of Deputy Molony's question until I discovered it on the Order Paper the previous day. The reason I was not present at Question Time was because I was attending a meeting of the Joint Committee on Legislation in room 114.
