Vol. 348 No. 11

Written Answers. - Ministerial Visits Abroad.

555.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will give details of visits abroad by himself and each Minister of State attached to his Department during March 1984; the purpose of each visit; and the total estimated cost of all such visits.

I attended an informal meeting of European Ministers of Social Affairs in Paris on 8 March to discuss female unemployment in the EEC. I will be representing the Government at a symposium on Northern Ireland in Boston from 13—15 March and I will also be meeting industrialists and attending St. Patrick's Day events in Orange County, California.

The Minister of State will be visiting the United States between 15 March and 22 March to attend St. Patrick's Day ceremonies in San Francisco and to meet State legislators and prominent Irish American groups. He will also participate in promotional activities on behalf of Irish industry.

It is not possible to give an estimated cost of the visits at present.
