Consideration was being given in my Department to the making of a State grant towards the cost of improvement works at Schull pier when the Department learned from Cork County Council in November 1982 that the existing pier structure was deteriorating rapidly.
The Department have had a survey of the damage carried out and the report on the survey is being examined at present. I am not in a position to state when work on the improvement of the pier will commence.
