498.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a cattle headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person named has been paid this grant already.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in the payment of grants amounting to approximately £5,500 which are due for silage pit work etc. under the farm modernisation scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

The grant amounting to £5,559 will be paid shortly together with a number of other grants certified about the same time.

500.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a reactor grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A grant payment of £85 under the bovine tuberculosis eradication scheme has been made to the person named.

501.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a person (details supplied) in County Cork applied for a 1982 suckler grant; if his application was deemed to be in on time; if so, the reasons for the delay in paying the grant; and if he thinks it is fair and reasonable that on 14 March 1984 he is still not yet paid.

The person named applied in good time under EEC suckler cow premium scheme 1982 on 7 July 1982 and will be paid within the next week.

I regret the delay in processing this application which arose from the requirement in the scheme which confines benefits to full time farmers who earn more than 50 per cent of income from farming and spend more than 50 per cent of time in farming. As the person named had an off-farm income, it was necessary to determine whether he complied with this requirement and in this case the investigations took longer than usual to complete.

502.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a cattle headage payment will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named has been paid his cattle headage grant under the 1983 disadvantaged areas schemes already.

503.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a sheep headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Further investigation is necessary to ascertain whether some of the sheep presented for inspection by the person named were his property. Consideration will be given to payment on completion of this investigation.

504.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a brucellosis reactor grant and a subsidy under the calf premium scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

No brucellosis reactor grant is payable to the person named. However TB reactor grants will be paid to him shortly. He has been paid calf premium already.
