Vol. 356 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Expenditure.

497.

asked the Minister for Health the total amount of moneys, specifying the details of the expenditure, paid by his Department to counties Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan and Roscommon for 1982, 1983 and 1984.

The situation in regard to non-capital payments is that such payments are made to health boards who determine their distribution between programmes and services throughout their areas. Information is not available in my Department which would facilitate the identification of the proportion of such payments which would relate to individual counties.

The non-capital payments made in the years 1982, 1983 and 1984 to the health boards which are responsible for the organisation of health services in the counties mentioned were as follows:

The figures quoted do not include payments made directly by the Department of Health on behalf of health boards to voluntary and joint board hospitals and homes for mentally handicapped persons.

Non-capital payments made to a voluntary hospital and homes for the mentally handicapped in the counties mentioned were as follows:

In addition the Brothers of Charity have centres for the mentally handicapped in County Galway and County Roscommon. As only one composite amount is allocated to the organisation it is not possible to give separate figures for these centres.
