Vol. 363 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leixlip (Kildare) Post Primary School.

8.

asked the Minister for Education the progress with regard to the provision of the second post primary school in Leixlip, County Kildare; if a suitable site has been found in the Confey area in line with the wishes of the parents; if she is aware of the urgency of the problem with regard to the need to provide extra school places in 1986 in the Leixlip area; and if she can now give some indication as to when the various planning and design stages will be completed in order to allow the project to go to tender.

A suitable site has not yet been identified for the proposed new post primary school in Leixlip. My Department are at present investigating sites in the Confey area. The Deputy may be assured that every effort is being made by my Department to acquire a suitable site for the school.

I am aware of the need to provide extra school places in the area for 1986. Arrangements have been made which will ensure that adequate places will be available.

It is not possible at this stage to indicate when planning will be completed to enable the project to proceed to tender.
