Vol. 363 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Sewerage Facilities.

3.

asked the Minister for the Environment when sewerage facilities will be provided for the residents of St. Michael's Cottages, Grange Road, Dublin 5; and if moneys have been provided from his Department for this scheme.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the Balgriffin Park Cottage drainage scheme for which a preliminary report was approved by my Department on 17 December 1984. It is a matter for Dublin County Council to submit contract documents to my Department for examination and approval and the question of providing finance does not arise until that has been done.

The Minister will be aware that this is the second occasion for me to raise this matter with him in the past year. I have exhausted every avenue at Dublin County Council and Dublin Corporation level by way of question and motion. Therefore, I am asking the Minister if he will approach these people and ask them to submit the documentation to the Department so that the grants can be paid.

Since the Deputy makes that request, I will take the matter up in the light of ascertaining whether we can be helpful. However, as he is well aware, the normal procedure is for the local authority concerned to put forward their plans to us, to seek permission for the work involved and to seek the finance to carry out that work.

Will the Minister raise the matter with the local authorities on this occasion since there is no other avenue open to me to pursue this issue further with them?
