Vol. 363 No. 13

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Lands Sale.

16.

asked the Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and Tourism the reason for the delay on the part of his Department in calling to see a person (details supplied) in respect of the sale of lands in County Cork.

While my Department aim to respond as quickly as possible to persons offering to sell land to them for afforestation, in present circumstances delays can occasionally occur in individual cases depending on the number of offers received in a particular period and the availability of staff to deal with them. In the present case an inspector of the Department called on the person named, in November last, but failed to contact him. He called again in January and having inspected the lands, has reached agreement with him for their purchase by the Department.
