Vol. 364 No. 1

Written Answers. - Non-Irish National Employed in Tanzania.

37.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the names of any non-nationals employed by his Department recently to deal with setting up and supervising programmes for foreign aid for Tanzania; and the number of Irish nationals who applied for these jobs.

There is one non-Irish national employed under the Irish Bilateral Aid Programme in Tanzania. The individual whose name I propose to give privately to the Deputy is employed on the smallholder livestock improvement project based in Pemba. The position held is that of tropical animal production specialist. Eleven Irish nationals applied for the post and the successful candidate was considered the most suitable person for this highly specialised post.
