Vol. 364 No. 2

Written Answers. - Gaming Machine Operators.

57.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will ask the Revenue Commissioners to carry out a special investigation into the financial affairs of gaming machine owners; if he is aware that substantial numbers of the employees in these gaming halls are people for whom no tax returns are being made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is assumed that the question relates to the tax affairs of gaming machine operators. It would be of assistance in carrying out the investigations, envisaged in the question, if the Deputy would make available to me, on a confidential basis, details of the abuses of which he complains and such other details as would enable the Revenue Commissioners to carry out the appropriate investigations.
