Vol. 365 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ballybunion (Kerry) School.

303.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position in relation to the advertising for contract of the new national school in Ballybunion, County Kerry; and if this will be a co-educational school.

My Department has agreed to grant-aid the provision of a new building for the Ballybunion boys' national school, County Kerry, and plans on that basis have been prepared. The question of amalgamation of other national schools in the area has, however, arisen for consideration, and as the outcome may impinge on the extent of the accommodation to be provided in the boy's national school the invitation of tenders for that project has been temporarily deferred. I shall as soon as possible send a statement to the Deputy as to the outcome of the amalgamation proceedings including their effect on progress with the proposed new national boys' school.
