Vol. 365 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Donegal Schools.

22.

asked the Minister for Education when a contractor will be appointed for the erection of Illistrim primary school, Letterkenny, County Donegal, and when work is expected to commence; when a new contractor will be appointed for the erection of Tooban primary school, Fahan, and when work is expected to commence; and when tenders will be sought for Little Angels school for the mentally handicapped, Letterkenny, County Donegal.

The position with regard to the various County Donegal national school building projects referred to by the Deputy is as follows:

(a) Illistrim National School

My Department has completed its examination of the tenders for the proposed new school and has decided on a date for the placement of a contract with a view to construction work on the project commencing in September 1986.

(b) Tooban National School

On 10 March 1986 my Department placed a contract for the proposed new national school. I am having inquiries made as to when actual construction work is likely to begin and I shall communicate with the Deputy.

(c) Little Angels Special National School

My Department has received the contract documents for the proposed new school from the school authorities. The question of authorising the invitation of tenders for the project is under consideration and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible.
