Vol. 365 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

30.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will issue a home improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 who needs to have windows replaced but cannot afford to pay for the works himself before the grant issues; and, if in such cases of hardship, he will consider allowing grants to issue so that such necessary work can be carried out.

In accordance with the conditions of the house improvement grants scheme, payment of grant can be made only when the works to which the grant relates have been satisfactorily completed. I am, however, bringing the case in question to the attention of the task force administering the special housing aid for the elderly.

31.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a final inspection will be carried out for a new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny with a view to payment, whose application was made before Christmas, 1985.

There is no record of the receipt in the Department of an application for a new house grant from the person named and at the address given.

32.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who applied for a house improvement grant three months ago and who received an acknowledgement but no further communication to date.

This application is among those covered by the dispensation from the prior inspection requirement. Notification has issued to the applicant authorising him to proceed with the work in respect of which his application was made subject to the conditions of the scheme (other than the prior inspection requirement) applicable when he applied for the grant.

Notification of completion of the work has not so far been received.

33.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who applied for a house improvement grant in December 1985, but who has not received any acknowledgment to date.

Grants for the provision of water, sewerage and bathroom facilities have been approved in this case.

34.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

A recent inspection established that some work remained to be carried out and the applicant was so informed. Payment of the grant will be made when a further inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and the other conditions for payment have been fulfilled.

35.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant application inspection will be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

36.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will expedite an inspection of the work carried out under the new house improvement grants scheme for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

An inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks.
