asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the rapid growth of credit unions, he now considers it timely to amend and consolidate the laws relating to credit unions as requested by the Irish League of Credit Unions in 1977.

Limerick East): There is a case for consolidating the statutory provisions relating to credit unions and for some up-dating. It is my intention that this will proceed as soon as more pressing legislative matters coming within the responsibility of my Department are completed.
