Vol. 369 No. 8

Written Answers. - Income Tax Rebate.

119.

asked the Minister for Finance whether a person (details supplied) in County Kildare whose husband is unemployed and with two dependent children, is receiving the correct tax free allowance; the correct rate of tax free allowances in such cases; and when she will receive a refund of overpaid taxes and the amount; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an amended certificate of tax-free allowances granting the taxpayer all of her husband's tax-free allowances for the current year was issued to her on 7 November 1986. This certificate includes all of the allowances to which she and her husband are entitled. Any tax overdeducted from her earnings since 6 April 1986 will be refunded to the taxpayer by her employer when the amended certificate is put into operation.
