Of the £27 million saving on public service pay announced in the budget on 31 March 1987, £2.766 million was in respect of the Education Votes. This was partly offset by an additional subvention from youth employment levy funds, making a net reduction of £1.091 million or 4.04 per cent of the £27 million saving.
