Vol. 372 No. 10

Written Answers. - Special School Transport Service.

258.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in the provision of transport to St. Paul's special school, Beaumont, Dublin 9, for an autistic child (details supplied) in County Meath; and when she expects that transport will be provided.

It is not possible to provide a special transport service to St. Paul's school, Beaumont, for the child concerned because of the high cost involved. He lives over 15 miles from the school and is remote from any existing special school transport service.

My Department has paid a grant in the past to assist the parents to transport the child to the school and is prepared to continue with this arrangement.
