asked the Minister for Communications if he will indicate the progress, if any, made since his reply to a parliamentary question on 7 April 1987 in ensuring that all State bodies under his aegis comply with the new requirements in regard to their annual reports under each major heading of the new requirements.

The necessary steps continue to be taken within my Department to ensure compliance with the Government decision of 16 December 1986 in relation to the annual reports and accounts of State bodies.

Ongoing consultations between the individual bodies, my Department and the Department of Finance will continue to ensure that the requirements for annual reports as specified in the Government decision will be fully met by the specified implementation date for example for annual reports on financial year commencing after 31 March 1987.
