Vol. 374 No. 5

Written Answers. - Work Experience Programme.

92.

asked the Minister for Labour the amount spent to date on the work experience programme this year under the National Manpower Service and the subhead under which it appears in the 1987 revised Estimates for his Department.

The amount spent on the work experience programme between 1 January and 30 September, 1987 was £3.8 million. The programme allocation for 1987 is £6.4 million comprising £5.81 million from Subhead T (Grant-in-Aid Fund for the Training and Employment of Young Persons — including the Youth Employment Agency and related expenditure) and £0.59 million carried forward from 1986 to 1987 in the Training and Employment of Young Persons Grant-in-Aid Account).

The programme allocation for 1988 is £2.3 million to come from Subhead P.5 (Grant for Work Experience Programme and the Employment Incentive Scheme). This will meet all commitments entered into to date.
