Vol. 374 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cavan General Hospital.

30.

andMr. Boylan asked the Minister for Health if permission will be given for the North Eastern Health Board to seek tenders for the equipment list for Cavan general hospital; if sufficient funds will be made available for the purchasing of equipment in the 1988 budget; if the hospital will be fully staffed; when it is intended to open the hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Provision has been made in the capital allocation for the health services to provide the necessary equipment required for the new general hospital at Cavan. Discussions are taking place with the health board at present with regard to the commissioning of the hospital and to the range and type of services which will be provided. The hospital will be staffed appropriately to provide the agreed level of services. At this stage it looks as if the earliest date by which the hospital will be ready to open is the end of 1988 or early 1989.
